This year we are offering Continuing Nurse Education Hours over the 3 Day Conference which could maximally equal 12 hours if you attend one class per time slot and complete all necessary requirements/documents. The classes have been preceded with an N# on the Schedule, and there are 1 or 2 choices during each time slot; each class is worth 1.5 CNE’s. The fee for CNE’s is $120, payment and registration requested prior to start of Conference.

2:30 - 4 EARLY AFTERNOON WORKSHOPS

N1 Natural Protocols for Anxiety & Depression w/Wendy Snow Fogg. This lecture will focus on plants to ease anxiety and depression, while raising the herbalist’s awareness of contraindications and safety issues around the pairing of herbs and pharmaceuticals. Learn the difference between nervine tonics, sedatives and stimulants as well as their potential effects on the body beyond the nervous system.

N3 Preconception through Postnatal Care for Mom and Baby w/Dr. Charis Lindrooth. The key to a healthy baby begins with the health of parents before conception, as well as during pregnancy, labor and delivery. This class outlines herbal and homeopathic protocols, adjunctive to standard obstetric care, for each of these phases. Intermed.

N4 Natural Protocols for Diabetes and Pre Diabetic Conditions w/Candis Hope Kirlajes. Diabetes and pre diabetes conditions are considered “deregulatory” in their nature. N5 Managing Herpes Infections with Herbs and Awareness w/Larkin Bunce. Whether dealing with HSV-1 or -2, herbs have a great deal to offer in managing this common and tenacious virus. N7 Lyme Disease – A Practitioner’s Experience & Discovery w/Wendy Snow Fogg. The Lyme spirochete adapts itself to 12 strains of DNA, and successfully hides in the synovial fluid of the joints, destroying precious collagen and causing symptoms ranging from fever and muscle ache to debilitating neurological symptoms. This lecture will offer an overview of my experience and discovery both as a Lyme victim and an herbalist treating hundreds of Lyme patients over the last several years.

Endometriosis has been recognized as a health condition for over a century, and yet its etiology and biochemistry are still not well understood. Implications for an innovative botanical approach to this condition will be discussed, along with possible botanical, non-invasive approaches to endometriosis induced infertility. Intermed/Adv.

N9 Integrative Therapies for Cancer w/Melissa Morrison. As herbalists, it will be important to have a knowledge base to assist cancer patients who come to us for help and comfort. Melissa will cover protocols, nutrition, & various natural therapies she has used in her herb practice and relate her experiences in helping people maintain health during their chemo/radiation/surgical cancer treatments. N10 The Herbal Nurses Forum: Building a Professional Practice with Nurse-Herbalists Bonnie Kavanagh & Marguerite Uhlmann-Bower. The focus of this open forum will be to update on professional practice issues and continues dialogue for nurses who wish to include herbs and herbalism in their practice.

N11 Herbal Antibiotics: Prevention and Treatment of Diseases w/Sonja Boynton. Herbal medicines are an effective way of treating everything from the common cold to intestinal parasites, to tuberculosis. We will use case studies to explore the prevention and treatment of these and other diseases. Intermed.

N12 Dietary, Herbal and Lifestyle Interventions for Inflammation w/Tammi Sweet. Inflammation... what is it good for? w/Tammi Sweet. While inflammation is a major contributing factor to many illnesses, it is one of our major defenses against disease. many people are stuck in an inflammatory cycle and looking for a way out. We will examine this process at a cellular level looking at how and why this process is beneficial and when it is not. We will also discuss dietary, herbal and lifestyle interventions. Intermed/Adv.

The process for earning CNE’s during the conference is you will receive at Registration the schedule listings and outlines. Upon arrival to the class you must sign in on attendance sheet by printing and signing your name, and documenting your State and License number or SSN. During the class you will be given an evaluation form that must be completed related to the class content and ability to meet objectives. Evaluation forms need to be returned to Presenter, Aide or Assistant during this class; or to the Nurse’s Path representative at the Registration Booth on the day of the class, last submission time for Sunday’s Classes is 1:15 pm on Sunday August 23rd. Certificates of Completion will be distributed after 3:00pm on August 23, 2009 once all required documents are received and reviewed at the Registration Booth. Attendees will only receive contact hours for those classes that they signed in for and completed evaluation forms; there is no reimbursement for not attending designated classes.

1:30 - 3 CLOSING CEREMONIES & CELEBRATIONS

Join us as we celebrate the ever-spiraling energy of the sacred circle. We will weave much of what we've done over the week-end into the magic of our closing ceremony including offering the prayers contained in the Goddess to the Goddess of the Lake; dancing to the beat of the sacred drum; honoring our Goddess masks and Medicine Shields, our brightly painted hennaed hair; honoring the children, the young women, and the magnificent spirit of each and every one of us. More than just a closing circle, this is a celebration of spirit. Take it home with you and rejoice!
